The Georgian Foreign Minister has met with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament

As part of her first official visit to Ankara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş.

The meeting primarily focused on key issues concerning the strategic bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides underscored the importance of further strengthening inter-parliamentary collaboration. In this context, special emphasis was placed on the upcoming visit of the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament to Türkiye, as well as on fostering cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups.

Regarding economic cooperation, the parties highlighted the growing trade turnover between Georgia and Türkiye,  and emphasized their partnership in strategic transit and energy projects.

Discussions also covered security challenges in the South Caucasus region and the significance of promoting peace and stability.

Additionally, the meeting addressed trilateral cooperation between Georgia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan in various fields, including the parliamentary dimension.

Once again, firm support was reiterated for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Georgia-Türkiye  Friendship Group in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
