The Georgian Foreign Minister meets with the OSCE Secretary General
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioğlu.
The discussion primarily focused on the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. The Secretary General expressed interest in recent developments in these territories. The Georgian Foreign Minister underscored the significance of the Geneva International Discussions and the OSCE’s engagement in conflict resolution. She emphasized the importance of peaceful settlement efforts based on the principles of international law.
Particular attention was given to the security challenges in the region and the necessary measures to address them. Both sides highlighted the necessity of upholding international legal norms as a foundation for long-term stability and regional development.
The conversation also touched upon the OSCE’s pivotal role in conflict resolution and peacekeeping efforts within its framework. Both parties reviewed Georgia’s collaboration with the organization across various domains, with Minister Botchorishvili reaffirming the country’s commitment to the OSCE’s principles. She stressed Georgia’s strong support for the OSCE and its institutions, underscoring the productive and longstanding cooperation with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
Furthermore, the Minister reiterated the Georgian government’s readiness to continue working closely with the OSCE on advancing democratic development and protecting human rights.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Botchorishvili extended an invitation to Secretary General Sinirlioğlu to visit Georgia. In response, the Secretary General expressed his willingness to travel to Georgia at the earliest opportunity.
